July 29th - Shelsley Walsh Classic

The Italian Job with inflation - four Cooper S

Several MGs competing ...

... the MGBs acquitted themselves well, only being beaten in their class by the out and out single-seat racers.

Mercedes Benz Streamliner W196 ... 'recreation' (replica to you and me). Looked the part ...

... but not the sound, having a straight-six engine.

Down came the rain. Why the chock man stood right behind the wheel every time, even when the car was in the right position I don't know, all the rear wheel drive cars gave him a soaking.

Good spray effects though.

Then out came the sun for the rest of the day, Bee in the concourse area.

Shelsley doesn't have a return track like Prescott, so the cars compete in batches, waiting at the top, then coming back down together. All sorts compete, from Cobras ...

... to saloon cars.

Eh!? This was part of the lunch-time parade ...

... of concourse winners. The silver Alvis was the overall winner, apparently a very rare Graber-bodied model.
