And another from DePanne which is just over the border in Belgium, the evacuation beaches extended a long way up the coast from Dunkirk itself. For many years the Dunkirk Veterans Association including Harry paraded through the town and were greeted as heroes, wearing their medals and attending banquets and receptions in their honour. 2000 was the last as due to falling numbers and the effects of increasing age the Association was wound up.
