Classic Grand Prix cars, 1945 - 1960

The technically brilliant but too fragile BRM V16 P15 Mk1. 600hp from a 1.5 litre V16, but a terribly narrow power band, so much so that driving one was described as 'rowing it along on the gearbox':


1956 Maserati 250F? If so, this one was bought from Maserati by Vanwall for comparative development tests, and occasionally fitted with a Vanwall engine and body:

1957 Cooper-Climax T43. Transformed F1 with its rear engine, Moss scored its first win at the Argentine Grand Prix of 1958 with its tyres worn down to the canvas:

1958 Vanwall. Became the first British design to win the World Constructors Championship, in the hands of Moss and Tony Brooks:
